Quad 405-2 State of the Art


After several weeks of work I presented my latest revised Quad 405-2 on Ebay today.


The dual-mono power supply by Dada/JPE gives a dramatical improvement of channel-separation and stability (see the other article about the dual power supply below).


Of course it has OPA 604's on board and the internal cabling is High-end. In used 4x MJ15003 power-transistors in this one.

Why did you use MJ15003 power-transistors instead of the zn3773 you use in your upgrade?

Hi,

Both transistors will do a very good job in the 405.

The 2N3773 is somewhat faster and the MJ15003 has somewhat more power.

You might want to concider moving R30/31 to the other side of the PCB as this removes the heat source from C10
